D’origine franco-allemande, l’artiste plasticienne Béatrice Turquand d’Auzay fait de la Grande Guerre la matière de ses œuvres. En juillet 1916, son grand-père Wilhelm combat dans les troupes allemandes tandis qu’André, son grand-père français, meurt dans les tranchées de la Somme. Près d’un siècle plus tard, grâce à son travail et à la transmission de son art et de son histoire, l’artiste redonne corps et âme au soldat disparu et, avec lui, à cette multitude de vies prises dans les rets de la grande histoire.
Béatrice Turquand d’Auzay, a visual artist of Franco-German origin, has made The First World War the raw material of her work. In July 1916, while one grandfather Wilhelm was fighting with the German forces, her French grandfather André was killed in the trenches of the Somme.
Now, close to a century later, thanks to her work and the transmission of her art and her story, she has given a body and soul to that lost soldier, and, at the same time, to the countless other lives caught up in that great upheaval of History.
